Overview

Voytek’s Travelling Van has guided small groups through Central Europe and the Alps for over a decade, operating under Tour Expert’s EU tour-operator registration and full local guiding licences in Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France and Poland. Every journey is driven in a private Toyota ProAce Verso Long touring van, seating a maximum of eight guests, by drivers experienced on the region’s most demanding alpine roads.

On the June 2026 running of this route, the van and crew carried a group of premium, luxury-travel American guests through the Grossglockner High Alpine Road and the tightest hairpin passes of the Austrian and Swiss Alps without hesitation, earning the group’s highest regards and a strong recommendation to travel with Voytek’s Travelling Van again.

Built for Travellers From…

United States / Canada: A private, English-speaking small-group format that removes the guesswork of a first (or repeat) Switzerland trip – fixed departures are avoided in favour of a single vetted van and crew for your whole party, the same model already proven with American luxury travellers.

UK / Ireland: A short flight to Zurich or Geneva, easy rail add-ons such as the Bernina or Glacier Express, and a route built to slot neatly into a one- or two-week holiday window.

Australia / New Zealand: Designed to be combined – add the Austria, Italy or French Riviera extension to turn one long-haul flight into a genuine multi-country journey, timed for the May, June, September and October shoulder seasons.

India: Vegetarian and Jain dining is arranged in advance at every hotel and restaurant on the route, family and multi-generational charters are welcomed, and our team provides Schengen visa guidance from first enquiry.

Trip Description

This fourteen-day private van journey traces Switzerland’s most celebrated alpine ground: the Old Town streets and chocolate country around Zurich, the lakeside promenades and mountain railways of Lucerne, the glacier world above Grindelwald, the car-free village of Zermatt beneath the Matterhorn, and the vineyard-lined shore of Lake Geneva. Two UNESCO-listed rail journeys, three cogwheel-train summits, and a private van built to handle every switchback along the way carry a group of up to eight guests from Zurich to Geneva at an unhurried, fully-guided pace.

The core itinerary is deliberately built as a hub for four optional week-long extensions. Guests arriving from Central Europe can open the trip with a week in Poland and/or a week in Austria, threading through Krakow, Vienna and the Grossglockner High Alpine Road before the van ever crosses into Switzerland. Guests wanting more after Geneva can close the trip with a week in Northern Italy around Lake Como and Milan, and/or a week on the French Riviera from Nice to Monaco. Every extension uses the same van, the same Tour Expert Tour Director, and the same house standards of accommodation and dining, so the whole journey – however many weeks a guest chooses – reads and feels like a single trip.

Guiding throughout is provided by a Tour Expert Tour Director travelling with the group for the full journey, supported by a Local Expert Guide in each city and any mandatory certified site guides (for example at Auschwitz-Birkenau on the Poland extension). Hotels are selected at a consistent 4-star to boutique-alpine-resort standard, with at least one signature regional dinner built into every week.
